Clubs

The University strongly believes that students should get involved in student life by joining MUT through students clubs. For a club to be recognized, its purpose must be consistent with the stated objectives and goals of the university and must be supervised by a full-time faculty member. There are several clubs sponsored by the university, which give the students the opportunity to complement their academic experience be exercising leadership, developing talents, programs and events, campus fairs, cultural programs, fieldtrips, and picnics.

Journalism Club

Club members will sharpen their journalistic capabilities through their forthcoming contribution to the MUT Quarterly newsletter and their involvement in preparing the MUT Yearbook. Both of these activities require photographic skills, which students will continuously improve during their tenure in the club.

Sada AL Toullab Magazine

Sada AL Toullab is a quarterly magazine for High School students produced to help them feel connected and up dated with the university news. Delivered directly to the School Administration for distribution, the Sada Al Toullab Magazine informs High School students about new university developments, provides practical information to enhance their career and aims to inspire with feature stories about what students are doing at all level across the Institution.  

Music Club

The Music club of MUT was formed in 2008 and aims to promote traditional music, drumming, international music within the university and in the wider community events.

The club runs a variety of activities and groups including the university band and a traditional acoustic music session group, flute, bass guitar, keyboard, accordion, fiddle and guitar, all from beginner level. In addition, of organizing social events and outings on a regular basis. 

Social Club

At the beginning of the fall semester in 2003, the Social Club was established. This club is managed by a student committee elected by students and supervised by a faculty member. Amongst their diverse duties, the committee members are responsible for organizing activities that include field trips, outings, visits to historical sites and museums, arranging parties, social functions and attending lectures at universities and other places of learning. They are also responsible for drawing the Administration’s attention to students’ complaints, points of view and wishes.

Sports Club

MUT priorities are not restricted to the development of students’ intellectual and academic progress only. It is profoundly concerned with developing the students’ talent and physical fitness to insure that both body and mind function in perfect harmony. For these reasons, MUT offers sports activities to its students beside the academic activities.

The university established sports clubs to cater students’ interests and tastes. The mini football team has established itself as one of the leading teams nation wide. It also annually hosts most universities’ teams from all over the country in tournaments held in one of Tripoli’s well equipped mini- football fields.

Our basket ball team is now confident enough to compete against other university teams and as it is working its way to the top.

The female students have a chance to stay fit through the aerobics classes that are held twice a week on campus. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to work out in two different reputable and well equipped fitness clubs in Tripoli, partially subsided by the sports department at MUT.

Within the academic year 2006- 2007, a basketball/ volley ball / tennis/ multi purpose sports’ court has been established on the university campus and is ready to be used for tournaments.

The following academic year shall see the birth of more sport activities, such as the establishment of swimming, tennis, volleyball and table tennis teams. Participation in local and national tournaments will help students gain self-confidence, and assist them in developing a team spirit.

Information Technology Club

Established on May 19, 2004 by a group of students from different disciplines, the IT Club generally serves as the hub for all students interested in the field of Information Technology. Its mission is to enrich the learning experience at MUT and to raise awareness among students about the latest technologies.

  • The IT Club has over 20 registered members from various disciplines.
  • The IT Club meets every week to discuss action plans and future events.

 

Goals:

  • Provide assistance to students in various IT topics by conducting on-campus seminars and extra teaching sessions.
  • Keep students informed about job opportunities related to IT in Lebanon and abroad.
  • Link students with their communities by involving them in round table discussions on how to introduce IT into the current business processes in local industries.
  • Assist students in finding companies and organizations that offer internship programs to university students.

 

Activities:

The IT Club will attain its goals by conducting a range of activities that include but are not limited to:

  • organizing trips to major IT companies in Lebanon
  • attending conferences and seminars geared towards the latest trends in IT
  • inviting speakers from outside MUT to speak about various topics in the IT field
